CX80 KEYPAD HARDWIRING

     THIS MODIFICATION WORKS WITH ANY
SOFTWARE IN PLACE OF THE SPECIFIC
KEYS. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE
NOT COMFORTABLE WITH HARDWARE MODS.

TO WIRE THE KEYPAD DIRECT YOU NEED TO
OPEN THE CX85 FIRST AND MAKE SURE
IT HAS SWITCHES. DE-SOLDER SWITCHES
FROM THE PRINTED WIRE BOARD AND
TOSS THE N BOARD. SOME ARE MADE WITH A
MEMBRANE PAD AND THEY WILL NOT
WORK. TO DO THIS MODIFICATON YOU NEED
TO BUY A 15 PIN MALE AND FEMALE
"D" JACK AND SOME 13 CONNECTOR WIRE AND
ONE SPST SWITCH.

INSIDE YOUR 800 YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR
KEYBOARD IS CONNECTED TO THE
COMPUTER BY A ROW OF 16 PINS. YOU WILL
NEED TO WIRE FROM 13 OF THESE PINS
TO THE FEMALE 15 PIN D JACK. WIRE AS
FOLLOWS:

PIN 16 PIN 12

NOW WITH THAT TAKEN CARE OF, YOU CAN
CLOSE YOUR 800. NOW YOU CAN START
ON THE KEYPAD. USE THE 13 CONDUCTOR
