From: ab873 Subject: YMODEM Date: Sun Jul 30 09:17:05 1989 Is Ymodem compatable with the Atari 8 bit computers? What is the advandages of Ymodem verses modem? ** Answered by JOHN SUCHY (aa271) on Thu Apr 16 01:03:20 1987 ** Let's start with the second half of your question. I'm not sure of the technical details, but the differences between the various _modem transfer protocols is the way in which the transfer program does its checksum. There is no reason that Ymodem should fail to work on 8-bit Atari's, but you would be very lonely with it: to my knowledge there are no people using it and no programs that support it. Most current Atari 8-bits use ASCII (no error checking), Xmodem, or Amodem. The last two are nearly--but not quite--identical. April 16, 1987 Your Co-sysop John E. Suchy aa271 Thanks for asking.
