From: ae501 Subject: COMPUTER SPEED Date: Sun Jul 30 09:24:08 1989 IF YOU WOULD CHANGE THE CRYSTAL IN THE COMPUTER TO A HIGHER SPEED CRYSTAL WOULD THE COMPUTERS CIRCUITS BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE FASTER SPEED? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<THANKS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ** Answered by JOHN SUCHY (aa271) on Sat Jun 27 01:03:47 1987 ** The answer is usually "NO". There are several things to be considered: 1. Internal timing of the MPU, 2. Memory access time, and 3. Monitor timing-- to name a few. These are usually all inter-related, and while some "crystal speed-up's" work, most won't. Your Co-sysop John E. Suchy aa271 Thanks for asking.
