From: aa591@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (John Rowland) Subject: IBM monitor+800xl Date: Sun Aug 12 12:04:13 1990 Is there any ways that I can hook a monochrome, 80 column monitor (TI monitor made for IBM's) to my Atari 800xl? If so, how could I do it and how much would it cost? Thanks. -- DESARU--A Mega Resort...Simple Yet Compelling... Suite 3A-07-08 Holiday Plaza. Jln Dato Sulaiman. John Rowland(aa591)--Music SIG ** Answered by Len Stys ** Aug 12, 1990 John, I don't quite know what kind of ports you have on the back of that monitor. If you have an audio port and a video port then you can probably hook up to it but it would be in monochrome. However, the most kind of IBM monitors that I have seen has only one port and that is for video because the sound goes through the built in speaker. If you don't care too much about sound then it just may work. If you want to give it a shot, I'd suggest you come on down to the Atari Mini-Expo on August 18th and 19th and bring your monitor and we will give it a try. Other Atari 8-bitters will be there also so they may know how to solve this problem. The second little problem may be with the 80 columns. The Atari 8-bit computers aren't made for 80 columns so I do not really know how it will work. if anyone does, then respond to this posting and I will post your reply. Thanks for your question!
