I tried this address and got a "unknown ftp site" error message
on my machine. Is there a number address instead that my machine
might recognize?

Sorry, I should have given them the first time.  FTP to:

129.22.8.82, 129.22.8.75, or 129.22.8.76

which are also the three telnet'able addresses, in number form.
