From: ad150 Subject: Arc Files Date: Sun Jul 30 09:27:14 1989 I have a problem with my ARC 1.1 Extract program. Recently, I downloaded Kermit1030.Arc from a local bbs, but when I tried to "un-arc" the files, the program said they were not arc files. Even though the filename extender is .ARC, the program collapses. PLease help, this is not the first time this has happened when I have attried to use ArC. I even downloaded another version, but it did not help. -Ken bohac ad150 ** Answered by JIM HAYNES (aa268) on Mon Aug 17 04:00:56 1987 ** Hi Ken, There are quite a few compacting programs out for the Atari. The Problem you are having is probably do to this. Not all boards make provisions for all the different versions. Because of this your extender ARC maynot be correct. Check with the Sysop of the board and see id there are any other compacting type programs available through their bbs. These files will have names like: shrink, shrinkxe, diskcom, scrunch, etc. We hope this helps. If it doesn't call the T.A.P. BBS at 228-7335 and leave a msg to me "JIM/CO-SYSOP" I do have a program that I can upload that will tell you what program was used to compact the disk. ATARI SYSOP, Jim Haynes aa268
