I HAVE A FRIEND THAT OWNS A ATARI 400 COMPUTER WITH 16K MEMORY
AND A ATARI 410 CASSETE RECORDER. IS THERE ANY WAY HE CAN
PUT HIS RECIPES ON CASSETTE AND CALL THEM UP WHEN HE WANTS THEM?

Yes, but with a cassette the
process is tricky, unreliable, and slow.Don't get me wrong. It's worth the
effort if he can't afford a disk drive,
but one can't expect miracles.
The easiest method to learn is
to write a program for each recipie
that prints it to screen, then SAVE"C:"
it. To get it back, find the beginning,LOAD"C:", then RUN and the recipie will
be displayed on the screen. Most of
the program lines will look like:
10 PRINT "THIS IS A LINE THAT WILL PRINT ON ONE,"
20 PRINT "AND THIS, ANOTHER SCREEN LINE."
If you want to "break up"
display of a recipie that is more than
one screen long, or treat the recipies
as data accessable from one program--a
good idea with cassette; you don't get
as many bomb-outs--learn BASIC from any
GOOD tutorial or your local user's
group.
