From: ba011@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Gary J. Stenroos) Subject: atari-c64 Date: Mon Mar 30 02:01:21 1992 I would like to send a file from an atari to a commie c64. I own both. Is there such a way. I'm assuming they're both in your house...otherwise you could simply do a file transfer. Assuming both computers are in the same room, you could probably do a Null modem transfer between the two computers. A null modem simply is a serial cable that has been wired in such a way that the two computers can send and receive data to eachother. Because of the way the cable is wired, the computers think they're talking to another modem when in fact they're actually communicating with another computer. As for building a null modem cable, you'll need to get the serial pin-out definitions for each computer. From there you'll need to connect the the receive pin on one end to the the transmite pin of the other end. Off hand I don't have my RS232C interface specs, but I do know the two pins are 2 and 3. Not sure off hand which is receive and transmit. If you wish to go this route, and can't find a null modem cable in a store (Radio Shack may have them), lemme know and I can give you further details. Lastly, I'm not sure what kind of files you wish to transfer, but do know that if they're text files, a conversion will be needed since Atari's End of Line character is ascii code 155. Not sure what the C64 uses...
