From: bb099@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Adam Trent Phillips) Subject: a problem decoding... Date: Mon Mar 30 01:44:42 1992 Me again... When I got the "sx212a.arc" file from BART, I tried to UUDECODE it..every time I did I got the same message when I tried to boot it.."BAD LOAD FILE". I got the normal response from the program after decoding (according to the UUDECODE docs.). But still it will not run...what is the problem ? ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*Answered by Mark Leair aa338^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Unless I missed something here, what you have decoded was a file that has been arced... Arc is a file compression method. Not only is it able to compress or compact a file into a smaller form for easy file transfer purposes, it allows one to compress more than one file into one file for easier file transferring as well. Anyways, after uudecoding your file, you need to unarc your file. There are several unarc programs out there. Bob Puff wrote an excellent shareware unarcing program that runs under SpartaDos. The name escapes me I'm afraid.
