BBS (614)-471-8559 CX80 KEYPAD HARDWIRING THIS MODIFICATION WORKS WITH ANY SOFTWARE IN PLACE OF THE SPECIFIC KEYS. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH HARDWARE MODS. TO WIRE THE KEYPAD DIRECT YOU NEED TO OPEN THE CX85 FIRST AND MAKE SURE IT HAS SWITCHES. DE-SOLDER SWITCHES FROM THE PRINTED WIRE BOARD AND TOSS THE N BOARD. SOME ARE MADE WITH A MEMBRANE PAD AND THEY WILL NOT WORK. TO DO THIS MODIFICATON YOU NEED TO BUY A 15 PIN MALE AND FEMALE "D" JACK AND SOME 13 CONNECTOR WIRE AND ONE SPST SWITCH. INSIDE YOUR 800 YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR KEYBOARD IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER BY A ROW OF 16 PINS. YOU WILL NEED TO WIRE FROM 13 OF THESE PINS TO THE FEMALE 15 PIN D JACK. WIRE AS FOLLOWS: 16 PIN KEYBOAD 15 PIN FEMALE D PIN 1 PIN 1 PIN 2 PIN 2 PIN 3 PIN 3 PIN 5 PIN 4 PIN 7 PIN 5 PIN 9 PIN 6 PIN 10 PIN 7 PIN 12 PIN 8 PIN 13 PIN 9 PIN 14 PIN 10 PIN 15 PIN 11 PIN 16 PIN 12 PIN 17 PIN 13 NOW WITH THAT TAKEN CARE OF, YOU CAN CLOSE YOUR 800. NOW YOU CAN START ON THE KEYPAD. USE THE 13 CONDUCTOR CABLE TO WIRE TO THE OTHER D JACK WIRE ONE WIRE TO EACH OF THE FIRST 13 PINS. THEN WITH AN OHM METER TO FIND THE PROPER WIRES, WIRE: PIN 1 TO ONE SIDE OF THE KEYS 0 7 8 9 PIN 2 TO ONE SIDE OF THE KEYS 1 2 3 4 5 6 PIN 3 TO ONE SIDE OF THE KEYS - = PIN 4 TO ONE SIDE OF THE KEYS * + PIN 5 TO ONE SIDE OF THE KEYS / . , PIN 6 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEY [RETURN] PIN 7 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYS 7 6 PIN 8 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYS 8 [RETURN] PIN 9 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYS 9 4 AND ONE TO ONE SIDE OF THE SPST PIN 10 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYS 3 0 AND OTHER SIDE OF SPST PIN 11 TO THE OTHR SIDE OF THE KEYS / - + 2 PIN 12 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYS = * 1 [RETURN] PIN 13 TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE KEYBOARD KEY [BACK] THIS MAY HELP KEYPAD KEY COMPUTER PINS 0 1 14 1 2 16 2 2 15 3 2 14 4 2 13 5 2 12 6 2 10 7 1 10 8 1 12 9 1 13 + 5 15 - 3 15 / 7 15 * 5 16 = 3 16 . 7 14 , 7 13 [RETURN] 12 16 WITH THE .
